Now begins an intensive period of Robert Kubica’s career. Visit to Poland for Christmas brought a possible agreement with Maciej Szczepaniak, who - by all appearances - will be a pilot of Robert in next WRC season. The final test of the possible co-operation will be the Jänner Rallye in Austria.
Robert yesterday had his first longer opportunity to test the car - Ford Fiesta RRC - which he will drive in Jänner. Together with Szczepaniak he was driving for several hours in France, and Robert was happy with the work they have done together. Below you can see a video of the Robert’s crossing and his statements after the tests:
Here is what Robert said about start in Jänner Rallye:
Robert in Jänner Rallye
This will be the first time Robert starts in this event. Kubica treats Jänner Rallye as a warm-up and final test before the beginning of the season of the World Rally Championship which will starts in less than three weeks with Monte Carlo Rally. Therefore, the result will be of secondary importance for Kubica, more important will be harmonization with a new pilot Maciej Szczepaniak, who will be racing in that event for the first time .
The program of the rally:
The event consists of 18 Special Stages of a length from 7 to 25 km. 10 of them will take place on Saturday (from 8:00 to 19:30) and the rest on Sunday from 7:45 to 17:00. Earlier, on Friday, will be held a shakedown and Qualifying Stage, both with a length of less than 2 km . Reconnaissance will start on Wednesday morning. Jänner Rallye usually takes place on snow or icy asphalt, but this year, due to high temperatures, it can be very muddy surface. Virtual flight in 3D over the route you can see HERE. Below you can see the best moments of 2013:
Of course, as for Poles, the main rival for Robert Kubica in Jänner will be Kajetan Kajetanowicz who have competed in this event and is much more experienced than Robert. Kajto has long been deserving success outside the Poland and for sure we will all be strongly supporting both Poles. In addition to that, dangerous drivers will certainly be Andreas Aigner and Vaclav Pech.
